A very special year.
Founders Day was delayed by a week to 15th October by Hurricane Matthew. That did not stop the celebration of the Old Men of the Sea, which is reviewed on our web site.
This was a great start to Boatoberfest.
Our member learn to sail actually took place before the hurricane hit us and experienced almost perfect weather.
The Chicken Island Race took place on Saturday 22nd October. We managed to break Bonito again, but Dave Brangaccio and Andy Mattingly secured their first win.
The Brewers Cup was beautifully managed by Paul and Genie Flynn and attracted 14 boats. This year Dave Brangaccio took the honors away from Phil Cornett. It is now 3 years since we have had a true downwind race. We are missing those spinnakers. Maybe 2017 will be different.
We returned to The Isles Yacht Club on November 5th to try and win the trophy on their territory. Len and Debbie Roe did a sterling job to keep our team together and The Isles made us very welcome. We are still pursuing our first away win.
It was notable that Len Roe crewed for the first time in a few years and Steve Franklin skippered. Do we have two new competitors?
