Dress Code

Dress is normally informal for most Club functions.  Special occasions will call for appropriate apparel. Members are encouraged to wear yacht club attire if they desire.  Usually the two formal occasions for the year are the New Year’s Eve Dance and the Commodore’s Ball.  Dress for various events and areas of the Club is as follows from the current House Rules:

Yacht Club Attire:

Gentlemen’s White Club Uniform
Navy blue blazer with the Club emblem on left breast pocket, white slacks, white collared shirt with Club tie, white shoes, white socks, white belt.  Uniform Yachting Hat is worn outside only. SYC Officers will wear nametag on right lapel and collar insignia as appropriate.

Lady’s White Club Uniform

Navy blue blazer with the Club emblem on left breast pocket, white shirt, white skirt or pants, white shoes, white belt, crossover tie (navy blue or red as appropriate).  SYC Officers will wear nametag on right lapel and collar insignia as appropriate.

Gentlemen’s Summer Uniform
White uniform short-sleeve shirt with epaulets,  Club insignia shoulder boards on epaulets, no tie, white slacks, white shoes, white socks, white belt. Uniform Yachting Hat worn outside only.  SYC Officers will wear nametags above right pocket of shirt.

Lady’s Summer Uniform 
White uniform short-sleeve shirt with epaulets,  Club insignia shoulder boards on epaulets, no tie, white skirt or pants, white shoes, white belt.  SYC Officers will wear nametag above right pocket of shirt.

Funeral Uniform
Navy blue blazer with Club emblem on left breast pocket, gray slacks, (ladies may wear gray slacks or skirt), white shirt with Club tie, (crossover tie for ladies), black shoes, black socks.  SYC Officers will wear nametag on right lapel and collar insignia as appropriate.

Formal Uniform 
Navy blue blazer with the Club emblem, white trousers, white shoes, white socks, white shirt and navy blue bow tie.

Tuxedos, Black Tie Formal
Appropriate Attire for Women.

Note: Gentlemen’s and Lady’s White Uniform is especially appropriate at Change of Watch and Annual Meeting.  Gentlemen’s and Lady’s Summer Uniform is appropriate for Semi-Annual Meeting.


Informal Attire
:

Dining Room 
Daytime attire for men will include collared or “banded” shirts and slacks. Shorts, or jeans are allowed in the Dining Room and Clubhouse during daytime dining, t-shirts are not allowed at anytime. 
Attire for men at dinner will include collared shirt or “banded” shirt and full-length slacks.  Shorts, jeans, t-shirts, and flip-flops are not allowed. 
Jackets are not required, but preferred for men after 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights in the Dining Room from November 1st through March 31st. 
Children under 12 are exempt from these rules. 
Appropriate dress for women. 

Clubhouse 

Appropriate attire is required at all times inside the Clubhouse for men and women.  Soiled work garments, bathing suits, tank tops (men) or similar dress is never appropriate in the Clubhouse. 
Shorts, jeans, pool cover-ups, and t-shirts are allowed inside the Clubhouse at any time except in the Dining Room as listed above. 
Gentlemen may never wear hats inside the Clubhouse, unless required by a special event. 

Grounds, Including The Tiki, Tennis & Pool Areas 

Informal attire for men and women will include tennis, boating, or swimming apparel, including shorts, collared or un-collared shirts and bathing suits.  Shirts for men and cover-ups for women are required except by the pool area.  Any member wearing apparel that is judged indecent, too revealing, too soiled or otherwise inappropriate will be subject to disciplinary action after a warning from the House Committee.
