Privacy Policy
Smyrna Yacht Club (“SYC,” “the Club,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our members’ personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information obtained through the Jonas Club Premium App (“the App”).
By using the App, members acknowledge and consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Geofencing and Location Services
1.1 Definition of Geofencing
The App may use geofencing technology to enhance member engagement and Club operations. Geofencing uses a device’s GPS or location services to create virtual boundaries (“geofences”) around designated areas. This functionality allows the App to: Provide notifications or promotions when a member enters or exits a geofenced area (e.g., the clubhouse or an event location), and enable location-based features such as arrival alerts, event notifications, or personalized offers.
1.2 Use of Location Data
When a member enables location services, the Club may use this data to trigger notifications or actions when a member enters or exits geofenced areas; improve relevance and personalization of App content and services; collect aggregate, anonymous data on location trends to enhance App features; and support background location tracking for specific Club-related services.
1.3 Member Control Over Geofencing
Members retain full control over how the App uses location data: Opt-In: Members may enable or disable location services at any time through device settings. Opt-Out: Members may turn off location-based services entirely, though this may limit certain App features that depend on geofencing.
1.4 Data Collected Through Geofencing
When geofencing is active, the App may collect: Precise Location Data (GPS coordinates when a member is near or within a geofenced area); and Time and Frequency Data (when and how often a member enters or exits a geofenced area).
1.5 Disclosure of Location Data
Location data collected through geofencing is used exclusively for the purposes described in this Policy. A member’s precise location will not be shared with third parties except to provide specific location-based services through trusted partners, comply with legal obligations, or improve operational efficiency through anonymous reporting and analysis.
1.6 Disabling Geofencing
Members may disable geofencing by turning off location permissions within their device settings. If disabled, location-based features such as notifications or personalized offers may no longer function.
1.7 Protection of Location Data
The Club takes reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to safeguard location data, including encryption and secure storage. Location data is retained only as long as necessary for App functionality and securely deleted when no longer required.
2. Information Collected Through the App
2.1 Categories of Information Collected
The following types of information may be collected through the App: Personal Information (e.g., name, email, phone, membership credentials); Usage Data (e.g., features accessed, duration of sessions, interaction patterns); Device Information (e.g., type, OS, unique identifiers); and Location Data (if enabled by the member).
2.2 Purpose of Data Collection
Collected information may be used to provide, maintain, and improve App functionality; personalize the member experience; deliver updates and notifications; ensure system security; and fulfill operational and legal requirements.
2.3 Device and Sensor Permissions
Depending on App features, the App may request permission to access: Camera, Microphone, and Biometric Sensors. Members will be notified and may decline or revoke permissions at any time.
2.4 App Usage and Diagnostic Data
To maintain performance and reliability, the App may collect logs of feature interactions, crash reports, debugging information, and aggregate analytics.
2.5 Third-Party Data Sources
If a member signs in using a third-party service (e.g., CHO, Gametime, ForeTees, Golf Genius), the App may collect limited profile data in accordance with that service’s policies.
3. Data Security
The Club employs commercially reasonable measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encryption, secure servers, access restrictions, and data integrity checks. While we strive to maintain the highest standards of data security, no electronic storage or transmission method can be guaranteed as completely secure.
4. Data Retention
Personal and location data are retained only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy or as required by law. Once data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
5. Member Rights and Choices
Members may exercise the following rights, subject to applicable law: Access, Correction, Deletion, and Withdrawal of Consent for data processing, including location tracking. Requests may be directed to the contact information provided in Section 7.
6. Policy Modifications
The Club reserves the right to modify or update this Privacy Policy at any time. Updates will be posted in the App and/or on the Club’s website, and the Effective Date will be revised to reflect the latest version. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
