The course was Bell to East Mark to South Mark and back to the Bell. Boats were allowed to fly all sails.
The wind varied from 2 knots to 7 knots from the ESE.
Rhapsody rounded the windward mark five boat lengths ahead of Twilight and 10 boat lengths ahead of Misty.
During the close reach to South Mark, Twilight gained to two boat lengths behind Rhapsody and Misty was two boat lengths behind Twilight.
South Mark was not on station so all boats turned at the same GPS location for the broad reach to the Bell. Misty put out a drifter and both Misty and Twilight passed Rhapsody. Twilight claimed the windward position and Misty could never pass through her wind shadow. Misty tried to pass to windward and was gaining but ran out of race course.
As the boats approached the finish, the Goodyear Blimp circled overhead and watched.
